I adore mountain destination weddings and I don’t think there are enough of them. Look how gorgeous this one is… loving the adorable cowboy boots! And these photos really show off what Montana is known for… Big Sky (that wide ceremony photograph is so grand!) The wedding took place at a private property that happened to be an awesome vacation rental. Perfect! Thx to Eva Lempert for allowing us to feature Heather & Jon’s big day. Here’s what she had to say about photographing this wedding:
“Heather and Jon decided to return to Montana, where Heather spent her childhood. Family and friends flew from all over the country to spend the week with the couple and celebrate. I had met Heather through a mutual friend (who was also one of my brides) and I knew instantly I would love working with the two of them. I loved the story of how Heather and Jon met – he posted a roommate wanted ad when he had an apartment in Santa Monica. Heather answered the ad, moved in as his roommate and the rest, as they say, is history! How could you not love a story like that? I am a believer in fate or kismet, and their story defined them as destined to be together. Ahhh, love!
One of my favorite things in a wedding is when the venue or spot they have chosen has a special meaning to the couple. A special occasion, especially a wedding, holds so much meaning already, it’s extra special when there is a history or connection to the venue or state, kind of like a family heirloom. Montana was inspiring! Doing a majority of weddings in California, Montana was a welcome change in scenery. The open spaces, simple beauty and surrounding nature inspired me to shoot for the location (location, location, location!) – to make sure I captured the entire story of Heather & Jon’s wedding in Montana.
For other couples who would like to get married in Montana, I would say that a local Wedding Coordinator is key. Since Montana is so vast, there was so much travel time, you had to know where you were going and how long it would take you. Also, a local Wedding Coordinator would be able to suggest local vendors, such as florists, rehearsal dinner locations and even a dentist, if you needed one. On a more humorous note, one must try the Moosedrool, a local brew that Montana is very proud to serve!”
